No Wake Zone

Please be aware that a no wake zone extends from the Charter Oak Landing jetty to the train trestle north of Riverside Park's Boathouse. 

Riverfront Boating

The Riverfront Parks in Hartford and East Hartford are great places to start and end a day of boating with family and friends on the Connecticut River. We welcome you to launch your boat at any of the three boat ramps we operate:

Charter Oak Landing

The lower section of Charter Oak Landing features a paved boat launch for boats up to 24 feet. Truck and trailer parking is available near the launch and port-o-let facilities are available.

Riverside Park

The park features a two-lane boat launch that is handicapped-accessible and easily accommodates larger boats. In addition, there are many paved trucks and trailers parking spaces available, a floating dock separate from the ramp for boarding passengers and port-o-let facilities are a short distance away.

Great River Park

The boat launch is paved with some docking for boats up to 20 feet long. Truck and trailer parking is available within the park and port-o-let facilities are nearby.

Riverfront Recapture’s Boat Docking Policy

To prevent congestion on our public docks, there is no long-term or overnight docking allowed. Docks should be used for pick up and drop off only. Some docks maybe closed during public events like Riverfest, Dragon Boat races and the Head of the Riverfront rowing regatta.

*Fees are determined as follows:

Boat launch fees are collected by Riverfront Park Rangers from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day. Discounts are given to residents who live in Towns served by the MDC. Fees are determined as follows:

In East Hartford:

  • East Hartford residents can launch in East Hartford’s Great River Park for free but must get a pass from the Town’s Park and Recreation office.
  • Non-resident East Hartford seasonal passes must be bought at the Town Park and Recreation office for $40.00.
  • Daily launch fees in East Hartford are $15.00 and our paid to the park rangers.

In Hartford:

  • Hartford season passes for either Charter Oak Landing or Riverside Park are bought at the ramp from the park rangers. The fee is $50 if you live in a MDC town, $100 if you live in a non-MDC town.
  • Daily launch fees in Hartford are either $5.00 for a MDC town resident or $10 for a non-MDC town resident.
