Great River Park Tree Planting
We’re planted 50 trees in Great River Park on October 14, thanks to the support of the Arbor Day Foundation and Enterprise!
This planting helped replace the significant number of trees lost to the Emerald Ash Borer, storms, beavers, and other environmental stresses. It was also an opportunity for us to diversify the species of trees in Great River Park. We planted three new species: American Hornbeams (aka Musclewood), Winter King Hawthorns, Pacific Brilliance Pin Oaks, along with London Planes, Heritage River Birches, and American Sweetgums, which can be found throughout our parks. These trees will thrive in the watery, urban ecosystem of our parks. The care of the trees in all four of our parks is a top priority as we work to maintain our urban forest and our riverbanks’ integrity.
