Park Maintenance Manager

Job Description: Oversee and work on daily park operations, including event and program support, daily maintenance, and preventative maintenance.

Reports to: Director of Operations

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Help coordinate maintenance, repair, and upkeep of park equipment, pathways, and grounds.
  • Inspect /identify/document hazards and safety concerns and address in a timely manner.
  • Help coordinate subcontracted services, including contract oversight.
  • Help oversee the use and maintenance of Riverfront Recapture fleet of vehicles and equipment.
  • Oversee and work with park maintainers and summer staff.
  • Respond to emergencies and alarms as deemed necessary.
  • Operate equipment as a part of Riverfront’s snow removal team and other maintenance tasks.
  • Help schedule, organize, and direct park clean-ups and community projects within the Riverfront park system.
  • Help coordinate and perform all flood response and clean-up within the Riverfront parks to protect property and ensure public safety.
  • Provide on-site supervision, set-up, and breakdown assistance in support of Riverfront public events/programs when deemed necessary.

Qualifications and Experience: 

Experience: At least three years of similar maintenance work.

Skills: Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated mechanical ability, physical problem-solving skills, familiarity with landscaping equipment and small tools. Experience operating equipment is preferred. Willingness to obtain a Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate. Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments. Ability to effectively supervise variety of staff and volunteers. Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision. Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel, and a working understanding of email. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and reliable transportation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to normal office conditions as well as outdoor conditions, which may include inclement weather. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to very loud levels. The position requires frequent trips to meetings outside the office or the parks and participation at events. Must be willing to work non-traditional hours when necessary, including weekends.

Employment Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time $22.00-$24.00 per hour with benefits
