Adaptive Rowing

The CT Adaptive Rowing Program (CARP) was formed in partnership with the Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in 2003.

This program offers opportunities for people with physical limitations to experience rowing on the Connecticut River with modified equipment. Participants are paired with experienced volunteer rowers in double shells. Veterans can participate in twice-monthly summer rowing and kayaking lessons. The program offers a combination of heavier and lighter weight kayaks to best match ability and skill level, with adaptions including two kayak paddles for those with decreased shoulder movement or pain.
