U-19 Development Team
Looking to row this summer in a competitive and fun atmosphere and develop your skills and talent? Then, the Riverfront U19 Development Team is for you!  The purpose of this program is to bring together like-minded young athletes to develop their rowing technique, boat feel and, improve fitness, and head back to their respective programs (or stay at Riverfront!) with a better understanding of the rowing stroke.  Developing yourself as a competitive athlete includes improving your race performance at the club level.

Racing is an integral component of this program. The U-19  team will attend a number of races throughout the summer.

ALL athletes (even those who may not yet meet all ideal criteria) are welcome to join. Athletes can expect the first week to be an observation week where the coaches and athletes work together to discuss their goals and to ensure athletes’ goals align with the goals of the program. All registrants will receive a racing tank. Race entry fees, travel/food/accommodations are not included in the registration fee.

Interested athletes should contact  Jonathan Near by email or at 860.985.2133 before registering to ensure this program is the right program. Seats/race opportunities will be determined by fitness, skill, and boat speed – not all registrants are guaranteed seats in all races.

Development Team
Collegiate and post-collegiate athletes—Are you looking to row in a competitive and fun atmosphere this summer and develop your skills and talent?  Then the Riverfront Development Team is for you!  A subset of the team practices and competes year-round, but the main focus comes in the summer.  This program aims to unite like-minded young athletes to develop their rowing technique, improve fitness, and return to their respective collegiate programs (or stay at Riverfront!) with a better understanding of the rowing stroke.  Developing yourself as a competitive athlete includes improving your race performance at the Club level, and racing in open/elite events.  Racing is an integral component of this program, and we plan to attend a number of races throughout the summer.

Athletes should have a 2k goal around or below 6:30 for HWT men, 6:40 for LWT men, 7:30 for open women, and 7:40 for LWT women (ideally performed in the last six months) and train six days a week.

ALL athletes (even those who may not yet meet all ideal criteria) are welcome to join us.  Athletes can expect the first week to be an observation week, where the coaches and athletes work together to discuss their goals and ensure the athletes’ goals align with the program’s goals. The program fee INCLUDES practice time and race entries to the three races listed above.  Travel, food, accommodations, and racing tanks are not included in the program fee.

Interested athletes should contact  Jonathan Near by email or at 860.985.2133 before registering to ensure this program is the right program. Seats/race opportunities will be determined by fitness, skill, and boat speed – not all registrants are guaranteed seats in all races.  This is available to collegiate rowers and as an add-on for current Riverfront athletes.
